Another month has passed us by, which means it’s time for another viewing wrap-up! Here’s a little look at what I watched in October.

New-to-me viewings: 18

Re-watches: 3

Total for September: 21

Total for 2015, so far: 278

Kind of a low viewing month for me. I’ll spare you another month of drawn-out grad school excuses and instead just say that I wish I could have made a bit more time for films this month, but am happy that I still got 21 viewings in. At 278 for the year so far, I’m just a bit below a film-a-day pace.

The new-to-me list:

  • Bright Road (1953)
  • No Other Woman (1933)
  • Sicario (2015)
  • The Martian (2015)
  • Geheimnisse einer Seele (1926)
  • Blondie in Society (1941)
  • Blondie Goes to College (1942)
  • Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015)
  • Annabel Takes a Tour (1938)
  • Fight For Your Lady (1937)
  • Woodlawn (2015)
  • Bridge of Spies (2015)
  • Whispering City (1947)
  • The Renegade Ranger (1938)
  • The Goose and the Gander (1935)
  • Good News (1947)
  • Dark Hazard (1934)
  • A Day in the Country (1936)

Viewing methods:

  • At the cinema – 5
  • From my collection – 4
  • Hulu – 1
  • Internet Archive – 1
  • Netflix – 1
  • Netflix DVD – 1
  • TCM/WatchTCM – 8

A whopping five trips to the theater this month, but my most-used viewing method was TCM. Still loving that WatchTCM streaming service. I find myself turning to it more frequently than Hulu or Netflix these days.

By decade:

  • 1910s – 0
  • 1920s – 1
  • 1930s – 8
  • 1940s – 4
  • 1950s – 1
  • 1960s – 1
  • 1970s – 0
  • 1980s – 0
  • 1990s – 1
  • 2000s – 0
  • 2010s – 5

A big month for the ’30s! Classic-to-modern ratio this month is 15 to 6, or five classic films for every two moderns.

And that’s the past month in viewing! Now, a few things to look forward to:

This month I’ve got a lot of fun posts coming up: a review of The Ice Cream Blonde, Michelle Morgan’s new book about Thelma Todd; a fan mag post about Olivia de Havilland; a review of Lana: The Life and Loves of Lana Turner; and a classic star dream casting of the Disney princesses. I’ll also be participating in the fourth annual What a Character! Blogathon with a post about Allen Jenkins.

I’ve got three more blogathon posts on the roster for January, looking farther ahead — the Backstage Blogathon, the Remembering Barbara Stanwyck Blogathon, and the Symbiotic Collaborations blogathon. Visit the Events page for more info and join in on the fun by contacting the hosts!

As the Christmas season approaches I’m excited to announce that I’ll be bringing back Eight Days of Christmas, a feature I ran in 2013. This will run from December 18 – 25, and you can expect to see several holiday films in the November wrap-up as I prepare for it. (I know we just passed Halloween, but I’m already very much in the mood for Christmas movies, so I’m excited to get those viewings in!)

Hope you all had a month full of wonderful films. Here’s to a great November!
