July was a highly unusual viewing month for me: I did more re-watching than discovering! It was my birthday month,** so I took that as an excuse to kick back and revisit some of my favorite films, which I was overdue on seeing again. Let’s take a look at what I watched!
**Side note: I’ll have a classic film-themed birthday haul up this week! The Criterion Collection is so kind, to celebrate my birthday each year with its 50% off sale at Barnes & Noble, haha.

The month in blogging:
The month saw two new-to-me reviews: Seven Doors to Death (a 1944 Poverty Row mystery) and Sapphire (a Basil Dearden social drama from 1959).
The Favorite Things film of the month for July was a fun one: 1935’s Top Hat, starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
I attempted to create a Hitchcock fan by introducing my sister to four of my favorite flicks from his filmography.
And, finally, I answered the Classic Movie Tag created by Raquel from the wonderful blog Out of the Past!
I hope you all had an excellent July, and here’s to a film-filled August!
If only I’d known July was your birthday month… Because it’s mine too! :)

How could I forget July was your birthday month…why did I think it was October or November? Anyway, I’ve seen quite a few films from your list…more so I think than I ever have before. Probably because you had that Hitchcock binge; I gave my friend Notorious, Rear Window, and North by Northwest to watch two weeks ago…do you think he’s watched any of them yet? Nooope, and I bet I get them back unwatched, sadly.
And good lord, I just noticed: you have over 5,000 followers now!

The second Criterion sale is in November, so I’m perfectly fine with celebrating then 😆
I hope your friend does watch those movies! If not, you’ll have to start doing like me and make a day of it. Trap your friend in your (or their) living room and do not let them leave until all of the films are watched!

That’s what I THOUGHT was going to happen originally, then after we’d grabbed dinner he said, hey, can I take those movies with me? I was all set for a Hitchcock marathon! Instead, he took the films and split; hopefully I get the darn things back someday.

Oh gosh, I hope so! I’m not yet at the point of charging late fees but I do keep track and send gentle return reminders when people borrow films or books from me, just like a library, haha.
