Hello, and happy December! Just one month left of 2019. It’s been a strange year, and to be honest, I’m ready to get to Christmas and then move on to 2020… but before we can do that, let’s take a look back at what was watched in November!

The month in blogging:
I had big aspirations for November — several fun mysteries and films noir in celebration of Noirvember. But, as is becoming an unfortunate trend here on TMP, I totally failed at keeping up with the blog! I did manage to publish two reviews. In case you missed them:
- The Stranger (1946): Orson Welles directs this fantastic post-war drama about the hunt for a Nazi war criminal in small-town Connecticut. A new favorite!
- The Plot Thickens (1936): ZaSu Pitts delights as the famed amateur sleuth, Hildegarde Withers.
Did you really only post TWO reviews in November? Well, I shouldn’t talk…you posted two more than I did! And it’s strange to see all those zeros in the decades before 1980. I’ve only seen two movies from that list – First Blood and Mystic River – and like you, I also watched First Blood in November, on Blu-ray…my first viewing in decades.

My pre-1970 vs post-1970 ratio has been out of whack all year. I blame it on work. When I’m busy I tend to watch newer movies — either going to the theater so I’m forced to avoid my phone/laptop for a few hours, or picking a new-ish movie that’s streaming because I can’t muster the energy to take notes. It’s sad! I need to get my life in order, haha.
Funny that we happened to watch First Blood around the same time! My dad has been insisting that I should watch the series forever. He bought it on Blu this month, so I finally watched it with him. In exchange, our next movie night will feature Stallone and Dolly Parton in Rhinestone 😂
