So, we’re already a few days into the new year. I hope 2013 is treating you all well so far!

As you may have guessed by the monthly wrap-ups throughout the past year, I really love tracking the stats of my viewing, so I’ve decided to compile an ULTIMATE wrap-up of all of my viewing for the entire year. It will be a major feat considering how many films I watched, but I’m up for the challenge.

And so it goes…

New to me in 2012: 437

Re-watches in 2012: 179

Ratio of new and old viewing: Approx. 61 “new to me” for every 25 re-watches

Total watched in 2012: 616

(I’m not going to bother copying the complete list of films watched in 2012 because as you can see from the numbers, it is huge. If the curiosity is killing you and/or you missed the monthly posts, the list is available at Listography!)

Tally by decade:
’20s – 9
’30s – 114
’40s – 96
’50s – 81
’60s – 29
’70s – 14
’80s – 32
’90s – 63
’00s – 114
’10s – 64

Ratio of pre-1970 to post-1970: Approx. 23 classics were watched for every 20 post-1970 films.

Method of viewing:
Amazon Instant Video – 9
DVR/TCM – 165
From my own collection – 178
From the family pool – 27
In class – 13
Library rentals – 77
Netflix (Instant) – 109
Netflix (DVD) – 6
Redbox – 14
Theater or public showing – 16
Youtube – 2 (Shorts)

Goals for 2013:

-Watch more silents!
-Watch more world cinema!
-Watch fewer films, but still watch a lot of films. Get outside a little bit in the summer instead of watching 90 films in a single month. (June 2012 was obviously a very bad month for me in terms of social interaction, ha!)
-Finish the Barbara Stanwyck Filmography Project and make more progress (or hopefully finish) Mill Creek Musings.
-Read more books about film.
-Go to at least a few public showings of classic films. (I went to a few at the library in 2012 but would like to make more trips to the Redford this year!)

Briefly, in other news:

I wanted to mention that I recently started a book blog called The Printed Pages – a sort of companion to TMP, with my thoughts about the books I read.

I know what you’re thinking: “Aren’t you busy enough, Lindsey?” Yes, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned from writing a bajillion film reviews in a year it’s that I really like to collect my thoughts.

I’m aiming to post once a week or so over there. Book vs. Film posts will still appear on TMP (and then be reblogged to TPP). Please give it a look if you’re feeling kind. I know there must be other film fans who enjoy reading as much as I do. :)
