Out of all your asterisked movies, there are only two I’ve ever seen: Blow-Up and The Time Machine. And if it matters in the long run, I thought Blow-Up was absolutely ridiculous (in a past review, I called it Throw-Up). So, based on that info, I’d go with The Time Machine as my recommendation!

Yikes! Is it bad enough to delete from the DVR’s “to record” list, or should I record it anyway and save it for a time when I need to punish myself?

I’m going to say play it safe and record it, because it’s a film that’s highly regarded by others, and I may be the lone dissenting voice that, for whatever reason, doesn’t quite get or appreciate it. But I’d love to hear what you thought of it whenever you decide it’s time to be punished!
Well, I’m apparently not the lone dissenting voice. I just took a moment and checked a few discussions on IMDb concerning Blow-Up…good lord, were people going at it: those who loved it, and those who didn’t. I tended to disagree with those who loved it, since they seemed to be simply attacking the others for ‘not understanding’ it. For me, it was just an odd, poorly-made film that I didn’t enjoy.

I hate when people do that. Give valid reasons other than “You just don’t understand” or don’t bother to argue at all!

Exactly. It’s all a matter of personal likes and dislikes…and trust me, even if I DID “understand” Blow-Up, I’d still think it was dumb!
Now I bet you’re going to watch it, aren’t you!

I might have to! I’ve been having problems with the DVR, though – none of the stuff I set last week recorded – so we’ll see.

Well, keep me posted! I can’t wait to hear if you’re going to be an elitist, superior-acting cinephile, or one of the countless cinema riff-raff such as myself!

There, I did it again…ruined the damn consistency of the thread! Talk about dumb!

I’m happy to see Portrait of Jennie on your list! I’ve only seen it once, but I found it beautiful and very underrated. I hope you enjoy it if you are able to catch it. I’ve actually been wanting to see On the Town ever since I saw a student production of it, so thanks for including it because its airing had slipped me by!
