I’m still adjusting to the fact that we’re in a whole new year, and 2014 has ended! Though I’ve already done a full year’s wrap-up of general movie-watching stats for 2014, I thought today I’d share my favorite discoveries of the year. There are quite a few, so the list is broken down by decade. Reviews are linked where available, if you’d like to know more about why I enjoyed these particular films the most.

*Reviews for films marked with an asterisk have not yet been published, but will be published this month, either in the “Modern Movies” post for December or as full reviews.
What a great list! You have included so many films that I’m definitely going to have to put on my “To Watch” list.
Did you get a chance to see Birdman this year?

I didn’t, unfortunately! It didn’t play at any of the theaters near me :( But one of the local multiplexes usually does a marathon of award nominees at the end of January, so hopefully I’ll be able to see it then. I’ve heard so many good things about it!

I done a similar blog post about this earlier, 10 films I caught up with this year. The ‘Before’ trilogy, Sorry, Wrong Number and It Happened One Night were my favourites.

I haven’t seen the Before trilogy, but your classic picks are great! I feel like Sorry, Wrong Number is so underrated among Stanwyck fans.
