Modern movies in December – Part II

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) – The special effects aren’t up to par with previous films in the series (at least, as I remember them), and the film feels very long despite being the shortest in the series (thanks to far-too-lengthy battle scenes), but it’s a nice wrap-up to The Hobbit trilogy. It also ties the series together with the Lord … Continue reading Modern movies in December – Part II

Favorite film discoveries of 2014

I’m still adjusting to the fact that we’re in a whole new year, and 2014 has ended! Though I’ve already done a full year’s wrap-up of general movie-watching stats for 2014, I thought today I’d share my favorite discoveries of the year. I am continuously baffled by the amount of eyeballs that are reading my reviews now … Continue reading October 2014 in film + collection update

Films in 2014: Modern Movies in September

It gets a little bit out of control with one crazy plot development after another near the end, but overall I thought the film was pretty nicely done. Good performances, interesting story. Friends with Benefits (2011) – This is a decent rom-com. I wouldn’t mind watching … Continue reading Films in 2014: Modern Movies in September
