Happy April, movie buffs! We’re a few days into a brand new month which means it’s time for the wrap-up, taking a look back at what I watched in March.
March was kind of an odd month for me. I felt like I wasn’t watching many movies, nor was I in the mood to watch/write about them — quite a rare occurrence for me! The month in blogging:
I took a week off from blogging this month (and came back with a lesser schedule, down to three days a week). But, there was still plenty of fun to be had in March.
The featured “Favorite Things” flick at the start of the month was a much-loved Vincente Minnelli rom-com starring Gregory Peck and Lauren Bacall, Designing Woman (1957).
I took part in the Early Women Filmmakers Blogathon with two posts: an overview of the career of Muriel Box, and a review of Dorothy Arzner’s The Bride Wore Red. I was proud to take part in this blogathon, bringing attention to the early contributions of women to the film industry in Hollywood and around the world. Be sure to check out the whole blogathon roster if you haven’t yet!
The Barbara Stanwyck Filmography Project saw a couple of updates: This Is My Affair (1937) and a second look at Titanic (1953).
Todd (of Cinema Monolith) and I once again shared our love of corny movies with a two-person “cheese-a-thon,” this time reviewing The Giant Gila Monster (1959).
FilmStruck Friday took a look at a few fantastic offerings from 1961: Underworld, U.S.A. and The Exiles.
There you have it — March in review! I hope you all were able to discover a few great films last month, and here’s to a movie-filled April.
Hey, thanks for the mention and the plug! I’ve only seen one of your ‘New to Me’ films (A Few Good Men), but I did see all three of your rewatches, which included my favorite noir film of all time, Out of the Past. And is your three-times-a-week schedule permanent, or was that just for March? (I’m still on my try-to-get-at-least-one-post-per-month schedule).

Permanent-ish, haha. I might change it again once I have a stable job/schedule but I think three posts should be manageable regardless of how that works out. Even when I’m super busy I watch at least a couple films a week.
One of my new to mes, Against All Odds, is an ’80s remake of Out of the Past! Out of the Past is one my favorites too, so the experience of watching both versions in close proximity was interesting haha. Will have a post up about it soon.
