April 2019 in Film

Happy May! It’s finally beginning to warm up here in Michigan, and as I type this, I’m sitting at a window overlooking a backyard full of birds. I love spring!

We’ve been in May for a day already, but before the month really gets going, it’s time to take a look back at what was watched in April.

New-to-me viewings: 6

Re-watches: 1

Total for April: 7

Total for 2019, so far: 58

The new-to-me list:

  • Little (2019)
  • They Came from Beyond Space (1967)
  • Blondie Hits the Jackpot (1949)
  • Glass (2019)
  • The Dog Outwits the Kidnapper (1908)
  • The Princess and the Frog (2009)

Re-watches:

  • She’s the Man (2006)

It’s brilliant! Shh!

I’m not sure anyone would have noticed without me calling myself out here, but no, your eyes aren’t fooling you — I haven’t used my Criterion Channel subscription yet. (At least my first month was free, I guess, but I feel foolish for letting it go to waste!) I have built myself a little queue there, and will undoubtedly begin putting it to good use in May.

By decade:

  • 1900s – 1
  • 1910s – 0
  • 1920s – 0
  • 1930s – 0

  • 1970s – 0
  • 1980s – 0
  • 1990s – 0
  • 2000s – 2
  • 2010s – 2

The month in blogging:

I have no good explanation for my neverending string of terribly low viewing months (or the lack of posts around here). I can assure you I’ve not lost interest in film. Even though my schedule fluctuates and I technically still have several hours of free time each week, I’ve just been pretty low on energy/mental capacity for the past year or so, haha. Post-grad life is weird, especially when your ten-year plan derails and you end up working several part-time jobs instead of climbing the ladder in your dream career.

But, I digress. I hope to get my viewing and the blog back on a consistent schedule at some point soon! Until then, happy viewing and I hope May treats you well!

  1. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a low number of movies watched from you, and just two posts…you’re starting to remind me of a certain movie blog I know called Cinema Monolith!

And sorry to hear your ten-year plan is TEMPORARILY derailed, but at least you watched a corn-related movie this month, and will be posting it as part of a two-person blogathon next week! I mean, seriously, what more could you ask for?

    1. How could I forget our long-term goal to take over TCM as the new overlords of corn?! At least that ten-year plan is still in action. 😆 I’m very much looking forward to our cheeseathon!
