Another month has passed, and we’ve only got one more left of 2013! November was a pretty good movie month for me as I discovered a few new favorites, watched quite a few Christmas movies in preparation for December’s holiday feature and, of course, bought a few DVDs. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the past 30 days of viewing.

DVD collection update:

Warning: some of these purchases or totally worthy of scrutiny and judgement. I’m at a strange, transitional time in my life (I graduate from college in two weeks and start graduate school in a little over a month!) and the stress of it is causing me to make some weird decisions.

  • New Girl – Season 2 (Thanks, mom!)
  • 4 Film Favorites: Classic Holiday Collection Vol. 2 (All Mine to Give, Blossoms in the Dust, Holiday Affair, It Happened on 5th Avenue) – I will be reviewing the films from this set as a part of my holiday feature
  • Ghosts of Girlfriends Past + Bride Wars (Used, $3 each)
  • A Christmas Story
  • The Debt (Only $1.99 at the grocery! WHAT!)
  • A set that I’ve dubbed the “Terrible Trio Multi-Feature” — three awful-looking rom-coms (Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber, Crazy Little Thing and Weather Girl) for only $2.99. Hoping they’ll be CotC-worthy!
  • Continuing the theme of purchasing awful movies this month, I picked up a couple of $2 DVDs on Black Friday from Wally World. My dad and I originally went to buy the new Garth Brooks boxed set because we’re stuck in the ’90s, and we did buy that, but I couldn’t resist picking up a couple of bargain bin finds as well. I got The Gangster Squad, which I had never seen before but have been wanting to review for my Period Films series; the Footloose remake, because I also own the original and hey, who doesn’t love a cornballin’ dance movie now and again?; Horrible Bosses, because I enjoyed it when I saw it in theaters; Here Comes the Boom, a comedy that I found predictable but pleasant when I reviewed it a year ago, plus I just love Henry Winkler.
