My favorite discovery of the month, by a mile, was Broadcast News. This film had been sitting in my Netflix queue for quite a while and I’m disappointed in myself for waiting so long to watch it. It’s fantastic and will be getting a full review some time down the road. Another highlight of the month was my re-watch of Wings for an upcoming blogathon. I fall a little bit more in love with that film every time I re-watch it!

DVD collection update

July was my birthday month so I got quite a bit of stuff. Some were gifts, some were purchases justified by the logic of “Hey, it’s my birthday!” I’m just going to do a quick run-through of the titles with notes about how I got them. Sorry the special features aren’t listed this month — I don’t have the time to dig the DVDs out of their stacks today!

A quick note for August’s blogging!

I may end up taking a little break or missing a few days of blogging in the second half of the month. On August 15 I’m leaving for a rustic camping trip, and while I’ll have access to WiFi when we go into town, I will be without electricity to charge any of my electronic devices. I’ve got car chargers and a WordPress app on my phone, so I may be able to pull it off, but I can’t promise I won’t miss any days! Last year I was able to have a pre-written post up every day during my camping trip, but I was also staying at a modern campground with electrical hookups.

At the very least, I will commit to making that week’s Summer Under the Stars recommendation post (which is already drafted and ready to go). I hope not to miss any days, but I thought I’d give you all some warning just in case. I haven’t missed a day of blogging since 2012, so it would be weird if I disappeared for a few days without a word!

From now until August 15 blogging will continue as normal, and after the trip, TMP will return to its normally-schedule programming on August 25.
