Hello, movie buffs and hello, September! Today, the final semester of my master’s program begins (though in my quest to stay in school forever, I’ll be returning to my university in January for a graduate certificate). Since September is back-to-school month, my viewing tends to take a bit of a dip. Luckily, I had a pretty successful month of viewing in August to make up for it. Let’s take a look at what I watched last month!

New-to-me viewings: 30

Re-watches: 7

Total for August: 37

Total for 2015, so far: 233

Most of my re-watching this month was done with a purpose: “Second Looks” reviews! Though I had fun re-watching all seven familiar-to-me films, only two of them were watched purely for fun (Mama Mia! and The Way We Were). This is great news for the blog; as of yesterday, I have the post schedule filled until December, with the exception of TMP’s annual Horror Half-Week programming. The grad school workload won’t be shutting TMP down any time soon!

The new-to-me list:

  • Home from the Hill (1960)
  • After Office Hours (1935)
  • Give a Girl a Break (1954)
  • The Longest Week (2014)
  • Bridal Suite (1939)
  • You Can’t Run Away From It (1956)
  • Rio Rita (1929)
  • The Blue Gardenia (1953)
  • The Easiest Way (1931)
  • Where Sinners Meet (1934)
  • The Tall Target (1951)
  • The Shaggy Dog (1959)

A huge month for TCM and WatchTCM, which should be no surprise since August marked the return of the annual Summer Under the Stars programming! I’m using my free time in the first few days of September to continue catching up on SUTS films via the WatchTCM website.

By decade:

  • 1910s – 0
  • 1920s – 1
  • 1930s – 7
  • 1940s – 6
  • 1950s – 10

  • 1970s – 1
  • 1980s – 0

A big month for the ’50s, with 10 viewings, and I actually loved most of the ’50s flicks I watched. (Give a Girl a Break and The Tall Target were among my favorite discoveries of the month!)

Hope you all had an enjoyable and movie-filled August! Here’s to a great September.
