The month in blogging:
Most of the month of September was taken up by new-to-me film discoveries, which can be found in the blog index and archive.
Our newest feature, Collector’s Corner, saw two updates: a list of the films I’ve added to the collection in the past few months, and a list of the movie-related books and magazines I’ve acquired recently.
The Stanwyck Project also saw three updates. The “Favorite Things” feature of the month was one of Stany’s best, The Lady Eve. Also reviewed: Escape to Burma (1955) and The File on Thelma Jordon (1950).
The Motion Pictures 
So what did you think of ‘A Taste of Evil’? Or should I wait for a review? And did you make the same mistake I did while watching ‘King’s Row’ for the first time…thinking Ann Sheridan was playing TWO roles, a dressed-down blonde and a brunette, when it was really Betty Field playing the blonde? Or am I the only one to ever make that ridiculous mistake?

Haha, I didn’t make that mistake, but it isn’t that ridiculous of a mistake to make! There is a strong resemblance! I think it was easy for me to recognize Betty because I love her in ‘The Southerner’ (a terribly underrated film, which you should watch if you haven’t seen it).
‘A Taste of Evil’ was pretty good, as made-for-TV thrillers go. Stanwyck at her most evil! I liked ‘The House That Would Not Die’ more, but left both with a new-found interest in director John Llewellyn Moxey.

I had a choice of reviewing one of those two Stanwyck TV movies, and I went with ‘Taste of Evil’, so I’ll have to give the other a look as well. Moxey did some cool TVMs back in the early 1970s, including ‘The Night Stalker’. And I’ll keep my eyes peeled for ‘The Southerner’!

I’m really interested in checking out more of his work. I was surprised at how suspenseful and atmospheric both films were. Not what I’m used to from TV movies since most of my exposure to them comes from the ultra-cheesy Lifetime Movie Network!
