Happy September! The first day of fall (the inarguably best season) is approaching in just a couple of short weeks. But before we pour the apple cider and bundle up in our scarves, let’s take a look back at my end-of-summer viewing in August.

New-to-me viewings: 9

Re-watches: 5

Total for August: 14

Total for 2018, so far: 115

The new-to-me list:

  • The Equalizer 2 (2018)
  • The Very Thought of You (1944)
  • Wings for the Eagle (1942)
  • Christopher Robin (2018)
  • Tarantula (1955)
  • Since You Went Away (1944)
  • The Thrill of It All (1963)
  • The Meg (2018)
  • Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

Four trips to the theater, the last unwatched movie in a sci-fi DVD set, and some DVR catch-up made up August’s discoveries. The Very Thought of You was my favorite classic discovery of the month.

  • The Brady Bunch Movie (1995)
  • A Very Brady Sequel (1996)
  • I, Tonya (2017)
  • Get Him to the Greek (2010)
  • Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

Yes, I saw Crazy Rich Asians in theaters twice. I may see it a third time! That gorgeous wedding scene alone makes it worth endless re-watching, in my book.

My other re-watches for August came from an impromptu movie night with my sister, and the happy accident of stumbling upon the crazy Brady Bunch movies on TV with my mom.

Viewing methods:

  • At the cinema – 5
  • From my collection – 2
  • From my sister’s collection – 2
  • Laff TV – 2
  • TCM (via DVR) – 3

By decade:

  • 1910s – 0
  • 1920s – 0
  • 1930s – 0
  • 1940s – 3
  • 1950s – 1
  • 1960s – 1
  • 1970s – 0
  • 1980s – 0
  • 1990s – 2
  • 2000s – 1
  • 2010s – 6

Heavy on the more recent decades this month, thanks to those theater trips and re-watches.

The month in blogging:

There’s not much to report on here for August. As you’ll know if you’ve visited the blog recently, I only made Summer Under the Stars recommendation posts in August. (I won’t link those here, since the days of SUTS viewing have passed.)

The little semi-break gave me a chance to start catching up on my backlog of review notes. This month I’ll be starting a new schedule for the blog, posting on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

I hope you all had a lovely August, and here’s to a movie-filled fall.
