…And we’re back! TMP makes its grand return today with a wrap-up of everything I watched in March.

I did well at catching up during the break, getting quite a few posts drafted and watching several films. I also began refreshing my DVD organization, which I’ll have a post on soon in Collector’s Corner. Until then, let’s look at the list of movies!

New-to-me viewings: 12

Re-watches: 4

Total for March: 16

Total for 2018, so far: 52

The new-to-me list:

  • Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)
  • Yield to the Night (1956)
  • Red Sparrow (2018)
  • Unsane (2018)
  • Tomb Raider (2018)
  • Framed (1947)
  • ‘Til We Meet Again (1948)
  • The Mole People (1956)
  • Bhowani Junction (1956)
  • Acrimony (2018)
  • Tiger Bay (1934)
  • History is Made at Night (1937)

Mixed bag this month! Crime, underground worlds, weepy romance… there was a little bit of everything in March. My favorite discoveries of the month were Framed, Yield to the Night and History is Made at Night. Reviews of all three coming soon!

Speaking of favorite discoveries, I’ve put together a ranking of all of the new-to-me classics I’ve watched this year over on Letterboxd, if you’re interested to see where these and other picks land in the scope of the year’s viewing.

Re-watches:

  • Ghost World (2001)
  • Freaky Friday (2003)
  • She’s the Man (2006)
  • I Walked with a Zombie (1943)

A nostalgic movie night with my sister and a classic re-watch for the Favorite Things series!

Viewing methods:

  • At the cinema – 5
  • FilmStruck – 5
  • From my collection – 4
  • TCM – 2

My theater visits have really picked up since my sister and I have begun to make matinees a near-weekly tradition. (A $6 ticket for each of us and a shared drink makes for a wonderful and very affordable sister date!)

I’m also absolutely obsessed with my revived FilmStruck subscription, especially with their recently-expanded offering of Hollywood classics!

By decade:

  • 1910s – 0
  • 1920s – 0
  • 1930s – 2
  • 1940s – 3
  • 1950s – 3
  • 1960s – 0
  • 1970s – 0
  • 1980s – 0
  • 1990s – 0
  • 2000s – 3
  • 2010s – 5

A precise 50-50 split between classic and modern this month. Considering my major viewing slump in the middle of the month, I’d say that’s not too bad, though I do usually keep the ratio slightly more skewed toward classics!

The month in blogging:

Since I took a couple weeks away from the blog in March, the lists of posts is pretty short!

Collector’s Corner had just one installment, a collection update with everything I’ve added to the shelves since Christmas.

The Favorite Things post for the month, as mentioned above, was on I Walked with a Zombie.

The rest of the posts for the month were standard reviews: Brief Moment (1933), Strictly Dynamite (1934), The Racket (1951) and Tension at Table Rock (1956).
