I’ve had a lot of lackluster viewing months this year, but I think July takes the cake. While I enjoyed everything I watched, I didn’t watch a single classic film! I went to the theater a few times and had a couple of movie nights with my sister, but not a whole lot of time was dedicated to film this month. It’s been a stressful month (for reasons I won’t ramble about here), which has put me out of the movie-watching mood.
I’ve made a conscious goal to watch a certain number of classics in August, so hopefully I’ll have a better wrap-up for you next month and get the blog back on a consistent schedule! Until then, let’s take a look back at July.

The month in blogging:
I wasn’t great at keeping up with the blog’s schedule this month, but still covered some neat films. The majority of the month was dedicated to film reviews, with only one feature: a Collector’s Corner update on independent films, in honor of Independence Day.
July’s reviewed films –
- Act of Violence (1949)
- A Farewell to Arms (1957)
- The Monolith Monsters (1957)
- The Last Tycoon (1976)
With the blog falling a bit behind, I’ve neglected one of my favorite events of the year, TCM’s Summer Under the Stars! Typically I’d have all of my recommendations for the month drafted up by now. Fear not, though: I’ll have an extra post up later today with my first recommendations from the star celebration.
Thanks for sticking by the blog during these strange times! I hope you all had a fine July, and here’s to a much more movie-filled August.
